October at W.O.P.S.

October 7, 2016

Dear Parents,

I would like to thank you all for the wonderful turn-out we had for “Parent Orientation.”   Our students are learning many new things every day.  As you walked down our hallways, I’m sure you saw evidence of their learning and hard work.

In October, of each year, we recognize “Red Ribbon Week.” Students are encouraged to dress according to the theme.  The purpose of the week is to encourage a drug free lifestyle  in a fun and non-threatening way.

The Red Ribbon Week theme days are:  OCT. 24-28

Monday – “I Matter so I’m drug free!” – WEAR RED

Tuesday – “Be smart, don’t do drugs!” – DRESS AS A “NERD”

Wednesday – “Soar above the rest, be drug free.” – DRESS AS A SUPER- HERO

Thursday – “Use your head, don’t do drugs.” – CRAZY HAT DAY

Friday – “ Don’t snooze – stay alert and away from drugs.” – WEAR DRESS CODE APPROPRIATE PAJAMAS

Halloween falls the Monday after Red Ribbon Week, this year.  Typically, our students are allowed to wear age appropriate costumes for Halloween.  We are not going to wear costumes, this year! Unfortunately, events happening in the world around us have caused some of our students to be scared of costumes.  Some are especially scared of clowns.  Friday, of “Red Ribbon Week,” will be a fun PJ day.  Halloween Monday will be a day filled with engaging fall activities. If you plan to eat with your student on Halloween, please do not wear a costume to school.

The “Fall Harvest” carnival sponsored by our band boosters  will be held on October 29th.  You will be receiving more information about the carnival soon.  Thank you again for your support.  Our littlest Roughnecks are doing great things!
